Hello Fabulous
I believe we are all fabulous and should celebrate our individuality. To embrace this I created ‘I’m an Individual Don’t Compare Me.’ I detest how we compare people to others and strip them of individuality.
A few years ago I turned this message in to a live installation and photography exhibition for The Arts Council /Big Dance. I completed the project and put it aside but now look out ‘Project Individual’ has been resurrected like the phoenix. Virtually every day I hear people comparing themselves to others or parents telling their children they should be more like someone else. Every time it I heard / saw it, it pulled on my heart strings. So I set to work to create bags, pencil cases and magnets (so far) for people to remind themselves to not let themselves be compared and to celebrate the fabulousness that is them. I chose these items because I wanted the items to be affordable, pieces start from just £1.
The words are great but let’s look deeper in to the design. Each word of ‘I’m an Individual Don’t Compare Me’ is in a different font, embracing the individual yet seeing individuals can work together to become something positive. Also you will notice the the ‘I’m’ and ‘Me’ are in different tones so ‘I’m Me’ are bold and clear because after all you are you and no one else.
